Bacon-Wrapped Cheese Straws

  • Author: Marina Savoy
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: About 24 cheese straws (serves 10–12) 1x

Description

Bacon-Wrapped Cheese Straws are flaky puff pastry strips layered with Parmesan cheese and wrapped in crispy bacon. Twisted and baked to golden perfection, they’re a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for parties, brunch, or casual snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 sheets puff-pastry dough (thawed but chilled)
  • 12 slices of bacon (halved lengthwise)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • On a clean surface, sprinkle ¼ cup Parmesan cheese. Place one puff pastry sheet on top, sprinkle with another ¼ cup Parmesan, and roll it slightly thinner (to ⅛ inch).
  • Cut the puff pastry into ½-inch strips. Lay a halved bacon slice on top of each strip, press lightly, and twist both ends.
  • Arrange the twists on the baking sheets, press the ends onto the parchment to secure, and sprinkle with more Parmesan.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For spicier cheese straws, sprinkle cayenne or smoked paprika on the cheese before twisting.
  • Use thin bacon for crispier results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes to restore crispiness.
