Description

These Baked Apple Fritters are a healthier, oven-baked version of the classic deep-fried treat. Made with juicy apples, warm spices, and a sweet vanilla glaze, they’re perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fritters:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well.
  • Gradually add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 14–16 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm fritters and let it set before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for the best texture.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes for best results.
