Description

A buttery, flaky puff pastry filled with a creamy sweetened cream cheese layer and homemade blueberry filling. These pastries are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 box frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cook blueberries, sugars, lemon juice, zest, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened. Let cool.
  • Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth.
  • Roll out puff pastry, cut into squares, and fill each with cream cheese and blueberry filling.
  • Seal edges, brush with egg wash, and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden.
  • Let cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use frozen blueberries if fresh ones aren’t available.
  • Don’t overfill the pastries to prevent leaking.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
