- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 6 tbsp granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 10–11 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
- Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 6-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For thicker cookies, refrigerate dough for 15 minutes before baking.
- Slightly underbaking keeps the centers extra soft.
- Swap chocolate chips for chunks or mix dark and milk chocolate.
