  • ½ pound lump crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 2 stalks celery, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 3 cups seafood or fish broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for thickening)

Instructions

  • Cook shrimp in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then chop and set aside.
  • In a large pot, melt butter and sauté onion, carrot, celery, and garlic until soft.
  • Stir in tomato paste, paprika, and thyme; cook for 2 minutes.
  • Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  • Gradually add seafood broth, stirring continuously. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Blend the soup for a smooth texture (optional).
  • Stir in shrimp, crab meat, and heavy cream. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Garnish with fresh parsley.
  • Serve warm with crusty bread.

  • For a dairy-free option, use coconut milk instead of heavy cream.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne for extra heat.
  • Blend fully for a smooth bisque or leave some chunks for texture.
