Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken

  • Author: Marina Savoy
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This baked crunchy hot honey chicken is the perfect balance of crispy, sweet, and spicy. Coated in a crunchy cornflake crust and baked to golden perfection, then finished with a mouthwatering hot honey glaze. A healthier alternative to fried chicken that’s easy to make and packed with bold flavors!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups crushed cornflakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or vegetable oil

For the Hot Honey Glaze:

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust spice level)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a greased wire rack on top.
  • Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of crushed cornflakes, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Coat each chicken breast in flour, then dip in eggs, and press into the cornflake mixture until fully coated.
  • Arrange the chicken on the wire rack, ensuring space between each piece. Lightly spray with oil.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until crispy and golden brown, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Meanwhile, mix honey, hot sauce, melted butter, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl to create the hot honey glaze.
  • Once the chicken is done, immediately brush the glaze over the hot crispy chicken.
  • Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes to the glaze.
  • To keep the coating extra crispy, always use a wire rack while baking.
  • Adjust the glaze to your spice preference by adding more or less hot sauce.
  • Works great with chicken tenders or wings—just adjust the cooking time accordingly!
