This Family Favorite Salad (Salad de Maison) is a crunchy, flavorful, and refreshing dish featuring romaine, Swiss cheese, bacon, almonds, tomatoes, and croutons, all tossed in a zesty lemon vinaigrette. Perfect as a side dish or main meal, this salad is easy to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser.

For the Salad:
- 1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
- 10 slices turkey or beef bacon, crispy and chopped
- 3 large romaine hearts, chopped
- 1 pint grape tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- ½ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1½ cups croutons
For the Lemon Dressing:
- ¾ cup light olive oil
- ⅓ cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1½ tsp honey
- ¾ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Dressing – Whisk together all dressing ingredients in a jar and refrigerate.
- Toast the Almonds – Bake at 350°F for 6-10 minutes until golden brown.
- Cook the Bacon – Bake at 400°F for 13-18 minutes, then chop into pieces.
- Prepare the Salad – Chop romaine and combine with tomatoes, Swiss cheese, Parmesan, almonds, and bacon in a large bowl.
- Dress and Toss – Drizzle with dressing, toss well, add croutons, and serve immediately.

- Store dressing separately if making ahead.
- Add grilled chicken or shrimp for a heartier meal.
