Ingredients

For the Wontons

  • Wonton Wrappers: 50–60 pieces (halal-certified)
  • Ground Turkey: 200g
  • Raw Shrimp: 200g, finely chopped
  • Grated Ginger: 1 tablespoon
  • Green Onions: 2, finely chopped
  • Light Soy Sauce: 1 tablespoon (halal-certified)
  • Lemon Juice: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: ½ teaspoon
  • Toasted Sesame Oil: 2 tablespoons

For the Broth

  • Halal Chicken Broth: 3 cups
  • Garlic Cloves: 2, smashed
  • Ginger Slice: 1-inch piece
  • Light Soy Sauce: 1½ tablespoons
  • Sugar: 2 teaspoons
  • Sesame Oil: ¼–½ teaspoon

Optional Add-Ins

  • Bok Choy or Other Greens: Blanched
  • Egg Noodles: Cooked
  • Shredded Green Onions: For garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling: Mix ground turkey, shrimp, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, lemon juice, salt, and sesame oil in a bowl until evenly combined.
  • Wrap the Wontons: Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten edges, fold into a triangle, and seal. Bring two corners together and seal again.
  • Cook Wontons: Boil wontons in batches for about 4 minutes or until they float. Transfer to serving bowls.
  • Prepare the Broth: Simmer chicken broth with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sugar for 5–10 minutes. Strain out garlic and ginger. Add sesame oil.
  • Assemble the Soup: Add wontons, noodles, and greens to bowls. Pour broth over and garnish with green onions.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot with optional soy sauce or chili oil.
