These Ham and Cheese Sticks are a delicious, easy-to-make snack featuring flaky puff pastry, melted cheese, and savory ham. They’re perfect for appetizers, party platters, or lunchbox treats. Ready in just 30 minutes, they are crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside, making them a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 oz sliced ham (deli ham or turkey ham)
  • 6 oz shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp mustard (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 1-inch wide, 6-inch long strips.
  • Add fillings by spreading mustard (if using), then layering ham and shredded cheese on each strip.
  • Roll the pastry tightly from one end to the other and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  • Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds (optional).
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, chill the rolled sticks for 10 minutes before baking.
  • Switch up the cheese by trying gouda, brie, or Monterey Jack.
  • Spice it up by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes inside the pastry.
  • Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free puff pastry.
