Ingredients

2 cups thinly sliced potatoes

1 cup cooked diced ham (halal)

1/4 cup chopped onion

2 tbsp unsalted butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups milk

1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp white pepper

Optional: chopped parsley, paprika
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 1-quart baking dish.

Make the cheese sauce: melt butter, whisk in flour, cook 1 min. Gradually add milk and stir until thick. Add cheese, salt, and pepper.

Layer potatoes, ham, onion, and cheese sauce in baking dish.

Repeat layers and top with remaining sauce.

Bake uncovered 35–40 mins until bubbly and golden. Rest 5 mins before serving.
