For the Fried Chicken:

  • 1.5 to 2 lbs chicken tenders or boneless chicken breasts (cut into strips)
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg + 2 tbsp water (beaten)
  • Vegetable, canola, or peanut oil for frying

For the Buttermilk Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (shredded or cubed)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (for brushing)

For the Hot Honey:

  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Marinate Chicken: Soak chicken in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes.
  • Dredge Chicken: Coat chicken in a seasoned flour mixture, then dip back into buttermilk and flour again for extra crispiness.
  • Fry Chicken: Heat oil to 365°F and fry chicken for 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Make Biscuits: Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in cold butter, add buttermilk, fold dough, then bake at 450°F for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare Hot Honey: Warm honey with red pepper flakes, stir in vinegar, and let cool.
  • Assemble Biscuits: Split biscuits, add fried chicken, drizzle with hot honey, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra spicy honey, add more red pepper flakes.
  • Store biscuits in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
