Ingredients
- Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup, softened
- Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
- Molasses: 1/2 cup
- Egg: 1
- All-Purpose Flour: 2 cups
- Baking Soda: 2 teaspoons
- Ground Ginger: 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cloves: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–5 minutes).
- Add molasses and egg, mixing well until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Roll tablespoons of dough into balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra softness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
