Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche)
  • 8 fully cooked sausage links (pork, turkey, or chicken)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  • Cook sausage links in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then set aside.
  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  • Trim the crusts off the bread, then flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
  • Place a sausage at one end of each bread slice, roll tightly, and press to seal.
  • Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s coated evenly but not soaked.
  • Heat butter in a skillet and cook roll-ups until golden brown on all sides.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for better texture.
  • For a cheesy variation, add shredded cheese before rolling.
