Ingredients

  • Fresh Ginger: 1 tablespoon, minced

For the Marinade

  • Soy Sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
  • Shaoxing Wine or Dry Sherry: 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil: 1 teaspoon

For the Sauce

  • Oyster Sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Soy Sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • Honey: 1 teaspoon
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper: 2 teaspoons (adjust to taste)
  • Water or Chicken Broth: 2 tablespoons

For Serving

  • Cooked Rice: Steamed white or brown rice

 


Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken: Combine soy sauce, cornstarch, Shaoxing wine, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add chicken, mix, and marinate for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce: Whisk together oyster sauce, soy sauce, honey, black pepper, and water or broth in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Sear chicken until browned and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook Vegetables: Sauté garlic and ginger in the same pan. Add onions and bell peppers, stir-frying until crisp-tender.
  • Combine and Finish: Return chicken to the pan. Pour sauce over, stirring to coat. Cook for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • Serve: Garnish with green onions and serve hot over rice.
