A warm, hearty casserole made with thinly sliced potatoes, savory chopped ham, and a creamy white sauce, baked until golden and tender.
Ingredients

6 tbsp butter, divided

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp dried parsley

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp dried thyme

1/4 tsp pepper

3 cups 2% milk

6 cups thinly sliced peeled potatoes (about 2 lbs)

1 1/2 cups cooked ham, chopped

1 small onion, grated
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a saucepan, melt 4 tbsp butter. Stir in flour, herbs, salt, and pepper.

Whisk in milk gradually. Cook until thickened.

In a bowl, mix potatoes, ham, and onion.

Layer half in greased 2.5-qt baking dish. Top with half of the sauce. Repeat layers.

Cover and bake for 65–75 minutes.

Uncover, dot with remaining butter, and bake 15–20 minutes more until golden.

Rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
